Thing 1 and Thing 2

Hey guys!! Okay, so who here doesn’t like Dr. Seuss?? No one, right?! My sister and I gave birth to our kiddos seven days apart. I was actually going to be in Kentucky the month of June, so we thought it would be a great idea to throw a shared birthday party.  We picked Dr. Seuss for obvious reasons, Thing 1 and Thing 2. We also thought it would be really easy to find party decor. I wasn’t going to be in town until the week of the party and I was flying in. So I couldn’t make decorations ahead of time.

Well we were wrong. Dead wrong. No one had Dr. Seuss decorations. We had to make everything ourselves. This was a total DIY party! The red and white stripe backdrop was just wrapping paper. This is honestly one of my favorite things to do to create a backdrop. With wrapping paper you are really limitless of patterns and colors.

“Have no fear of that ring.”  Laughed the Cat in the Hat.

“Why, I can take cat rings Off tubs. Just like that!”

Do you know how he did it? With Mother’s White Dress!!

Now the tub was all clean, But her dress was a mess!!

My very talented sister drew everything by hand. She used white poster board and lots of markers.  Doesn’t it look awesome?!  We also took a white paper lantern and drew the design using markers. Above the windows are blue pom poms made out of tissue paper.

We wanted to coordinate out food from all of Dr. Seuss books. Green eggs and ham, one fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish and three cheese trees. Buying letters at our local craft store and I modge podged scrap-book on each initial. I painted the sides of the letter to match the scrap-book paper.   My sister and I also just filled table space with gum balls and rock candy.

Outside we hung plastic table covers on the side of my moms porch. We took a piece of string and bunched each table-cloth together and attaching them. We “sewed” them together. My sister drew the little boy and girl from the Cat in the Hat out of white poster board. We bought the birthday boy and girl little beach chairs at walmart to sit in while opening presents.

Doesn’t Thing 1 and Thing 2 look amazing??? I am still amazed at how my sister, Katie, drew everything. My stick people don’t even look like people, just a bunch of lines sometimes connected together lol.

I can’t believe this Sunday we will be celebrating #wildmans 4th birthday! Where has the time gone?? I love that my son and niece are so close in age. They always love when they see each other. Thank you for stopping by and see how we pulled off Thing 1 and Thing 2 birthday party. It wasn’t the easiest party, but it sure was worth it.
