Hey guys!! It has been crazy around here lately! With the PTO, coaching soccer, my youngest also playing soccer and working full time I am going a little crazy. Some how I completely skipped an entire week and I am ready for a three day weekend with the kiddos lol… I am wanting to add more holiday decor to the house without breaking the bank. I love hitting up the dollar tree for fun, cheap crafts.
I didn’t take step by step pictures. I am really bad about that lol sorry. This DIY is super easy and all you need is a hot glue gun. I bought the plastic skulls at the dollar tree. I used lots and lots of glue to attach each skull. Let me say that it is tricky to glue rounded skulls straight. My husband had a few laughs. My husband suggested that I dent in the plastic skulls. But I already had them glued together lol So if you make the candlesticks and dent in the skulls, let me know if it helps. For the base I use candle trays. Once everything is glued together, it’s time to paint!
I used a flat black spray paint. I love how the paint brings out the detail. I think the Dollar tree needs to start selling these bad boys! What do you think?? You might notice that base and tops are different. The glass plates didn’t work out, at least not for me lol. I think they were to slick and the plates just kept falling off. Sooo I replaced them with clay pot lids. They seem to work great and I think they look better.
I think the candlesticks look great. For now they are in my entry way. Before I go I thought I would share another quick and cheap DIY. The other night I went out back and broke off a tree branch. After I pulled all the leaves off I spray painted it with the same flat black paint. I bought the two black birds from the Dollar Tree and wrapped wire around their feet and the tree branch. The picture doesn’t do it justice! It is larger in person, and fills the space nicely. It only cost me $2!!
Two halloween DIY for under $20. Not to shabby. Let me know what you think. What halloween DIY have you come up with??
